TREENWARE - What is it?
Items such as bowls, scoops and spoons, boxes, cutting boards, etc. were used for preparing, cooking, and serving food in Colonial America. A huge majority of treenware that is found in the market today is made of Resin. In order to create these vintage replica pieces, original treenware wooden antiques were used to create molds which are filled with a resin material. The pieces are then carefully finished off by making cracks, wood grain, and other distressed markings found on the original piece. Each piece of reproduction Treenware now looks as though it has been passed down through generations.
Today original antique treenware can be very expensive ranging from hundreds to thousands of dollars. Reproduction treenware is a great affordable alternative in achieving a primitive look without having to pay a high price.
