TREENWARE - What is it?
Items such as bowls, scoops and spoons, boxes, cutting boards, etc. were used for preparing, cooking, and serving food in Colonial America. A huge majority of treenware that is found in the market today is made of Resin. In order to create these vintage replica pieces, original treenware wooden antiques were used to create molds which are filled with a resin material. The pieces are then carefully finished off by making cracks, wood grain, and other distressed markings found on the original piece. Each piece of reproduction Treenware now looks as though it has been passed down through generations.
Today original antique treenware can be very expensive ranging from hundreds to thousands of dollars. Reproduction treenware is a great affordable alternative in achieving a primitive look without having to pay a high price.

Why a Blog?
So here we are! Decided to finally join the ranks of all the primitive crafting bloggers out there. This blog will actually be more of an announcement site for all of Mammy's Mercantile Happenings. Whether it be an announcement of new items added to our website, sales, contests or just some plain ole' primitive chatter. We're excited to have this new endeavor compliment our website and add a little more depth to Mammy's Mercantile. Hope you enjoy and feel free to comment away!
